things my mother told me...

here are a few things my mother has shared with me as i was growing up:

if you eat a lot of raw almonds, you will turn into a frog.
(and to think i actually believed her when she said that, back when i was in form 6...!)

do unto others...BEFORE they do unto you.
(my mother's take on the golden rule. she always said it earnestly in a deadpan voice, thus heightening the effect)

always remember that God is above, whatever you do He sees and knows.

it takes a brave man to fight, it takes a braver man to know when to walk away.

water always flows downstream, it never flows upstream.
(this is said in the context of human relationships, how life moves on and how we shouldn't be too sad when things change and people move out of our lives)

my mum has always shared her own brand of humour and wisdom with all of us at home. in more ways than one it has shaped my current thinking and for that i m grateful. thank you, mum.
