the glass tube

strong emotions or passions are like a glass tube...

hold it too tightly and it shatters in your hand, the splinters cutting into your flesh, and the blood flows, bright red while the pieces scatter all around you.

hold it too loosely and it falls unto the ground, broken.

ultimately you learn to hold it, not too tightly and not too loosely. to hold it just enough to keep it in your hand without breaking it or causing it to fall...and to let go of it, placing it gently somewhere when the time is right.

something cannot be let go unless it is first embraced.
