food for thought...

i am currently reading 1) advocacy course material,
2) civil procedure notes and cases
3) evidence notes and cases
4) Hogfather by Terry Pratchett
5) Guide to Contentment by Archbishop Fulton Sheen
6) Confessions by St Augustine (modern english version)

great books, esp the last one. St Augustine was a famous thinker and jurist ... i recall the quotation from jurisprudence last year - "What are States without justice but robber bands enlarged?"
and yet...that's not the reason why it strikes such a chord with me.
in times when i wonder at my own smallness and my own temper and lack of sensitivity ... and how far behind i am from where God saw me when He created me ... it's words in books like this which hearten me and give me strength to try again. because i know i am very imperfect, with so many rough edges to smoothen.

i think also of the book God of Surprises. It's an excellent guide to beginning a journey into the interior of self. trust me, it's one of the scariest places one can ever go to. and how hard it is for me to still my mind nowadays. i used to be able to focus and meditate when i was younger. now there are just way too many distractions and noise...but i m making a start again.

sometimes i just wonder : am i actually moving at all? or have i gotten stuck in a rut without knowing? there can be no standing still. i am either progressing or slowly regressing. and it's seriously making me wonder.

on a lighter note, 2 tests and 1 more assignment and 1 written tutorial answer. and let's not go into the usual routine of tutorials and classes. and i'm well...sorta 'lovin' it' .
put into normal speak - even if don't love also must settle it lo. life 's like that ma. (punctuated with a sigh).

Finding the right book just when you need it is like finding a message in a bottle when you desperately need some guidance.

The message is from Him, of course.
