addictions/ non sequitur/ footie talk

i was sitting in my usual corner of the court the other day when i struck up a conversation with a young lawyer (as opposed to senior lawyers) who was sitting next to me ... we ended up talking about my attachment experience. i told her i marvelled at the number of drug addicts who my supervisor described as coming by the lorryloads...and my second thought after that was what was the root cause of such numbers of drug addicts.

so she asked me what i thought. and i replied that it could be down to its being a form of escapism from the struggles and pressures of daily life, the act of making a living. i noted that many of them worked as labourers, contract workers, restaurant helpers ... perhaps the drudgery of struggling to make ends meet finally ate into them. i don't really know. all the years of writing bm karangan and at the end of the day, i cannot put my finger on the actual causes.

that is when she made a very illuminating comment : that we all have addictions ... just that these drug addicts have socially unacceptable addictions. what about the rest of us? in the dark secret of night, we could be harbouring unhealthy attachments that hold us in bondage, that chain us to keep seeking them out for some form of solace. maybe some of us are addicted to food, to seeking for approval, to the Internet, to the idiot box etc etc but society's judgments have not been issued on such addictions and so we continue stumbling forward in the invisible chains that only we see, feel and know of. and that i know for sure at one level, we all can empathise with the struggle drug addicts face.
my heart goes out to family members who are still willing to help them post bail, to come to court to see what of these prodigal sons (there were no female drug addicts, as far as i saw) ... it takes a lot. but air dicincang takkan putus...and blood is thicker than water.

i had an eye infection the other day, my left eye got swollen and red. am off contacts for the moment, and well, i drank a lot of water, got some proper sleep and my eyes (thank God!) are back to normal ...

cheerio! masa tidur ni.
and my sympathies to the Arsenal football team for their loss of the Champion's League cup.
LIVERPOOL ROCKS! muahahahah. once again, LIVERPOOL shows they are boss. if you don't know what i m talking about, you'd better get back to the rock where you were vegetating under before i came to disturb your peace.
(what happened to MU? oh wait a minute, they are busy showing their faces on AirAsia planes all over. hahahaha. i am more ok with the team now that Mr. 'Minnie Mouse voice' Beckham is not there anymore ....)

I suppose the big question is where to draw the line between addiction and passion. And Liverpool is the boss because they... won the FA Cup? Against newly promoted West Ham, no less ;p

LIVERPOOL ... well, did a bang-up job, and most of the credit should go to STEVIE G. aiya, to paraphrase Mourinho, the better team won. kakakakaka. and i want a trenchcoat too, minus the sneer.

goodie for you Arsenalies/Arsenalites...Henry is staying on, ehehe. :)

passion? passion fruit is nice, and yeah, i don't believe in cinta sejati, just susu sejat. which can be used to make tea and curry and desserts. :P
