Reunion Dinner cum Birthday Party

We just had our reunion dinner cum birthday party ... it was one of the nicest meals i've ever had...:)

today is not only cny eve...it's also my younger brothers' (who are twins) birthday...this year we had 2 cakes to celebrate..one was a butter chocolate sponge cake with a chocolate wafer house and some weird shaped iced figures on top, either pandas/rats/piglets and a small paper umbrella that could open and close (always been fascinated by such umbrellas since i was a child)... the other cake was a butter marble cake with an interesting lattice pattern on top and which tasted absolutely scrumptious...:)

we had to light the candles twice as the younger twin ended up blowing the candles before the elder one could join him, being too busy making wishes...they turn 9 this year. but the kids had a lot of fun, and so did the rest of us. we sang the birthday song only once though...then the kids cut the cake and we all had a slice each.

it was a really fun meal, full of jokes and my favourite chicken rendang, mixed vegetables and my dad's signature 'ju hu char' ... so nice to sit together as a family and share a wonderfully cooked meal. trust me, eating at home is so much more fun than eating in a restaurant...you get to wear whatever you like, and eat without all manner of fuss...and free flow of drinks! yes, esp shandy and vanilla coke...

tomorrow will be time to go to mass...and to give thanks for the year that was the year of the rooster...and to ask for His blessings for the year of the dog...Amen to that.

petrina7 wishes all of you a very Happy Chinese New Year and Happy Holidays!
