From Berjaya Times Square to Sg Wang Plaza

today my roommate, in nee and i went cny clothes shopping at sg wang plaza...we dropped by at berjaya times square for awhile, but there was nothing particularly interesting there. i did see a skirt in Debenhams, but the price was quite prohibitive so i put it back...*sigh*

on to sg wang plaza then. sg wang plaza is home to all 'AL' (Ah Lian) fashions...and it is quite easy to get lost there. shop after shop of rows of skimpy tops with seemingly redundant straps, lace and frills and surly looking salesgirls who give you bored looks, as if you have just intruded into their precious privacy and peace. seas of skinny women and girls with dyed locks queueing up to try on the latest styles. loud cny songs in many different versions, but with the 'dong chiang' very much intact. after a while it gets very very repetitive...horribly so, in fact...

[but nothing can quite beat the Sub salesgirl in my hometown who told me in Cantonese haughtily that this shop didn't have clothing in my size...i looked at her blankly and walked away from any further humiliation. still that was a long time ago. given what i've gone through in the interim, i would reply with a sharp look and perhaps some sharper words...or i might just walk off, minus the feelings of shame i had then. it's not my business or fault if some people choose to be rude without any provocation...]

in the end, we each managed to find something nice to wear...ins bought a beautiful red peach dress with a halter neck and i bought a blue ala-denim knee length (not purely denim) skirt. i had already bought a red cheongsam top the other day, so i guess my cny shopping is complete. :)
