'Genting' in UM

Saat-saat genting di UM...

Genting Highlands in UM...the so-called mist swirling around that smells of smoke and little itty bitty particles vaguely reminiscent of satay without the fragrance of meat roasting...walking about and being clouded by the thick and muggy smog which seems to pervade walls and bricks...it's everywhere.

a pall on the senses and it is depressing...even in the midst of joyful events like convo and going to sample all kinds of 'local delicacies' such as E-pau...(i am still wondering what the E stands for... Extra large? Electronic? Estimable? Excellent? Elegant? Exquisite? or Etc pau???)
Harn has a mind-blowing theory concerning the 'Electronic' pau which contains electronic components that once ingested can track the person's movements...It's all a huge conspiracy!!!...cue X-files theme and wild eyed look.

but anyhow, there's also an interesting offer of buy 10 burgers, get 1 free...suitable for wimpey types...and abc special at 5th college stall which is generous with the ice-cream, it even has pineapple pieces in it, how much better can it get? (should have ordered it minus the red beans though, dislike chewing into them) ...d'laparist stall (1st college) has great spaghetti complete with lame name "Spaghetti School of Rock"... muahaha, as long as it tastes good, it doesn't really matter... among other things...the kebabs are nice, and there's the usual fried foods that are ultra bad for the throat...and for a change, fried ice cream.

do not buy the 'tau fu fa' from perdanasiswa under pain of eternal death...it tastes icky. awful. bad. it even has a sickly greenish cast the seller falsely attributes to pandan 'flavour'. the 'tau fu fa' in ipoh is by far the best i've ever tasted, and that's not just because i m from ipoh myself...it is smooth, sweet and soothing to the throat...come down to ipoh and i'll take you there. that, and other delicious foods await you there...:)

feskum this year has had a much more organised feel to it, making it a much more pleasant experience overall. not to mention how ill i was last year during feskum...but then again, i was a lot more stressed and depressed last year. ah...enough with the past already.

saw my seniors graduating today as we waited for them outside dtc. this morning, Pn Jawakhir (my business correspondence lecturer) was just talking about the 'photography culture' so prevalent in our society today. wonder...hm, yeah, took quite a number of shots with friends and congratulated many seniors on their successful convocation. it was a fun experience, and i really enjoyed seeing the happy happy faces all around me. balloons? flowers? gifts? the whole works. and banners. even the bad weather can't dampen this kind of thing.

i am happy too...in spite of smog/haze and tons of unfinished work...i m just happy and thankful that so many blessings have come my way. so i sit here and listen to david foster with his famous tunes and fr. patrick masang singing marian hymns and i chill out... yeah, life goes on. it has a habit of doing so.

p/s: right now, 13 Aug 2005, the haze is clearing. it's a beautiful morning. thank God.

i think the haze turned the whole of selangor into a 'mini' genting. it was really bad for the eyes and throat. the worse was that the haze actually dampened the mood, making one feel lethargic and restless. had a terrible time trying to imagine myself being in another place with 'cleaner' air. now with the haze gone (although there are signs that it is COMING BACK), the smokers are back to contributing to the haze and yes, our darling vehicles are back on the road doing their 'daily' duty i.e. polluting the air. what a 'WONDERFUL' world. :0)
