the more things change, the more they stay the same. this is an original saying in French, and how often i ve found it to be true...
hmmm...
i met a few old friends at today's public lecture, it was good to see them again and it was somewhat comforting as well to note that they stayed very much the same. hence the above saying. we took some pix and shared some thoughts...and a wave of nostalgia rolled over me.
the lecture itself was interesting, and i found it much more stimulating than last year's sonnambulistic styled talk. cherie blair nee booth was a good speaker, and her points were illuminating. i began wondering about the jurisprudential aspects of interpreting the constitution broadly. it seemed to hint at a natural law basis. but this is only a beginning. anyway, i digress.
i sampled all the different types of food served at the tea after the lecture with my 2 good friends, siewwee and harn. we had tea, cakes and cream puffs and mini murtabaks etc. now i know that some people thought i took all the food for myself, but really we shared it among us three. and it worked out just nicely. life is about sharing...no?
also met the k-pum aka kepum people there, and i m glad to see they remembered me as i remembered them. this year's law careers convention is in kdu.
all in, a satisfying day. some small quirks i observed, and i think i will never cease to be fascinated by human beings. the day i do is probably the day i die. amusing, amazing and mind boggling...hahaha. frantic face, head down and bent and being an informal usher through no fault of my own, yells and laughter. and an evil grin. and an evil stare. why am i surrounded by 'evil' people? hm, i can anticipate the answer...macamlah i m not evil myself...
the hour is late, the day ahead is full and i m about to turn in. good night!

Ah, the nostalgia. 'Have you seen Karen?' 'What to do, damn tensionlah. Have you got a car? Have you? Have you? Have you?' I must go and look up that Poirot quote in French.
Ahh....
Should I consider again to surround you the next time I see you lest I'll be named one of those "evil people" you mentioned?
Anyway, I had the same feeling that you had esp when I see my lovely graduated buddy at the conference. she looks oh-so-gorgeous yet still she still gives me the same kind of she-is-so-nice feeling to me...hmm...
hahaha. no lah, i don't think you are evil...and you're so sweet... :)
but anyhow, the next time you see me at a gathering, do come by...we can take pictures and chat about anything under the sun...:)
